St. Gerard Early College 6th through 12th Campus

Judge Sakai was invited to address the student body regarding the importance of education, giving back to the community, and setting high goals for themselves. When asked about the importance of registering to vote, Judge Sakai shared that for first time voters, it is a responsibility of significant importance because it is part of our democracy. One’s vote is the active participation in the democratic process. He noted that when young people vote, they are voting for leaders to represent them, and leaders are an extension of the “voice.” And young voters account for half of the voting population, making them a powerful force.
